Nationwide Children's Hospital

At Nationwide Children's Hospital everything matters to us. Because when it's your child, everything
matters to you.
Nationwide Children's Hospital has been caring for sick and injured children and adolescents for more
than 120 years. Today, we are America's 4th largest and busiest pediatric hospital and research center
serving patients from all 50 states, and 21 foreign countries. In 2012, the hospital expects to care
for children during more than one million patient visits annually. Nationwide Children's offers
services in every pediatric specialty with a staff of more than 8,500 physicians, scientists and
support staff ensuring the best possible care. Our impact goes far beyond the downtown Columbus
campus with 68 facilities extending out across Ohio and beyond. It's the pediatric expertise every
child needs. Whenever and wherever it's needed.
Nationwide Children's believes that no child should be refused necessary care and attention for lack
of ability to pay. Our mission is best described by the acronym "CARES": Nationwide Children's Hospital
is dedicated to providing the highest quality of Care, Advocacy, Research, Education, and Service to
patients and families in central Ohio and beyond, without regard for their ability to pay. To that
end, we provide more than $116 million in uncompensated care and community benefits every year, all
in support of the vision to create optimal health for every child in our community.
At Nationwide Children's, we are creating the future of pediatric health care. We consider every
detail. Every decision. Every aspect of the care we provide for every child. From the child who
comes to us with pediatric cancer, congenital heart disease, or cystic fibrosis. To the child who
comes to us with a sprain, a broken bone, or a simple fever. Here, the future health and potential
of all children is being shaped. Here, our doctors are revolutionizing your child's health and the
health of future generations.
Our patients range in age from neonates to young adults. Our mission is for those patients to
survive and to continue living normal, healthy lives with their families. Hematology, Oncology &
Bone Marrow Transplant at Nationwide Children's Hospital treats a full array of blood disorders,
cancers, immune-deficiency disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes and inherited metabolic storage
diseases. We are proud to announce that Nationwide Children's Hospital ranks 16th in the specialty
ranking of cancer in U.S.News & World Report's 2011 Edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals.
In fact, Nationwide Children's is listed among America's best in every pediatric specialty ranked by
US News.
We are relentless in our pursuit of answers. Which is why our doctors are also researchers. And
why we're an international leader in pediatric research. Every question developed at the patient
bedside has a place in the lab and someone there working passionately to answer it. To ensure we
keep with our mission, we are setting a path for our future. We partner with the Department of
Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine to train the next generation of
pediatricians, pediatric specialists and scientists.
At Nationwide Children's, we recognize that our work is far too important for us not to be the very
best at it. And we're nationally recognized for doing so. For the fifth straight year, we've been
ranked in the U.S. News & World Report's "America’s Best Children's Hospitals." We were the first
freestanding pediatric hospital in Ohio to achieve magnet status, designating us as a hospital that
provides world -class patient care and innovation in nursing practice. The Research Institute is
ranked in the top 10 for National Institutes of Health funding among free-standing children's
hospitals.
And we got here by remembering one thing: When your child needs a hospital, everything matters.
